All courses, meetings and classes are offered FREE* of charge.  Donations are accepted, but not required. 

BIBLE CLASS: SCRIPTURES THAT MOVE US!  Wednesdays, Jan 4 – Mar 7, 6:00pm-8:45pm

We will be studying the most significant scriptures that impact us in the Old Testament. You will be made new through these scriptures.

INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS (DBT)  Thursdays, January 5-26, 6:30-7:30pm

The goals of Interpersonal Effectiveness training include 1) Objectiveness Effectiveness: meeting your objectives or goals in a situation; 2) Relationship Effectiveness: getting or keeping a good relationship; and 3) Self-Respect Effectiveness: Keeping or improving self-respect and liking yourself.

FORGIVENESS: Finding Freedom and Fulfillment Thursdays, Jan 5 – March 8, 6:30pm-7:30p.m – Pat Thompson

You try to forgive, think that you have forgiven only to discover that a tiny ember of resentment can suddenly flare up again. Learn how to forgive others, yourself and God for the pain you have and do experience in life. Pat, GSM’s Licensed Counseling Supervisor, has a Masters in Counseling and L.P.C.. She was married for 40 years and was widowed in 2008. She has had numerous life experiences where forgiveness needed to be given and relationships resolved.

HIDING FROM LOVE Saturdays, Feb 4, 11, 18, 25, 9-Noon, Tana Kirkham

EMOTION REGULATION (DBT) Thursdays, February-2-23, 6-7:30pm

Emotion Regulation training includes: 1) Understanding the emotions you experience (identify emotions & understand what emotions do for you); 2) Reducing emotional vulnerability (decrease negative vulnerability & increase positive emotions); and 3) Decreasing emotional suffering (let go of painful emotions/change painful emotion).

WO BOOK CLUB Friday, January 6, March 2, May 4, July 13, Sept. 7, and Nov. 2, 1-3pm

We will be having our first book group on Friday, January 6th at 1:00 at GSM. We will be discussing the book Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg. Please come prepared to share what your favorite part of the book. Dixie Larsen will be leading the discussion.

LISTENING FOR SUCCESS: COMMUNICATIONS/BOUNDARIES, LITE  Jan 13, 14; or April 13, 14, Fri, 6:00pm-9:00pm & Sat, 9:00am – 4:00pm  Jim Petersen & Rick Collins

This intensive course will help you become better listeners, identify your boundaries, or lack of boundaries, and enable you to say what you mean, and mean what you say. Highly recommended for ALL people who want to improve relationship and communication skills. Bring a friend!

TEACHER TRAINING: BIBLE Saturdays, Feb 18, April 21, June 16, Aug 18, Oct 20, Dec 15. 9a.m. – 4p.m., Bettie

All ages are welcome, and new people are encouraged to attend this highly interactive class. Bettie’s greatest call was teaching the Bible in such a way that it inspired a radical, intimate relationship with the living God. The goal of this class is to train others to teach the Bible in this same passionate and interactive manner.

DISTRESS TOLERANCE (DBT) Thursdays, March 1-22, 6-7:30pm

This class will help you develop skills for tolerating painful events when you cannot make things better. Skills include distraction, self-soothing, improving the moment, and identifying pros and cons.

MEN’S GROUP Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30p.m., Mar 14 – Apr 18 Mike McCoy

This is a powerful training program to release who you really are. You will be healed of the brokenness that denies the power of your life and its future. You will find permanent friends. Come and be shocked! Men love this group!

DIRECTORS MEETING/ALL US INTENSIVE TRAINING Walla Walla, Washington, Friday & Saturday, March 23-24, 9am-4pm

The Directors meeting will take place on Friday and the Counselors and teachers will get training on Saturday from leaders locally and nationally as we come together for this national training intensive.

FAMILY THERAPY CAMP March 30 – April 1, Friday, 7pm–Sunday 2pm Christian Renewal Center

Families with children are encouraged to attend this weekend in the woods together. You will learn and play together as a family. Each person, including children, discovers their own voice and their role. Families and singles are welcome.

DISCOVERING YOU AND BREAKING CO-DEPENDENCE April, time and date: TBD, Jane Keohane

This class will help you discover your individual identity and help you to recognize and change co-dependent behaviors. This class will be interactive. The class is highly recommended for anyone in counseling or teaching who would like to strengthen their own identity and to be clear on their individual responsibilities.

Take advantage of this opportunity to learn successful strategies for communication, organization, education and fundraising, Satellite leaders will have an opportunity to explore challenges, successes and provide support to each other.

LAY COUNSELOR/MENTOR SAMARITAN TRAINING Wednesdays, 4:30pm-6:00pm

Kathy Lane. (Not the first Wednesday of the month)

This training is for people who are currently Lay Counselors at GSM or other ministries/churches, and also for those who are interested in becoming Lay Counselor or Mentors. This training will help you with topics like Marriage Counseling, Depression, Lay Counseling Practicum, and Forgiving. Learn how to empower yourself and others with Kingdom teaching that is life-changing and interactive.
