Boundless Camaraderie In the Presence of the King! October 10, 2017

Vibrancy of the love of God pulses in the hearts and lives of those who love Him. Such love and power pulsated throughout Good Samaritan Ministries’ fundraising dinner in the evening of September 30th.  The evening was like no other in my life; miracles were popping all over the room, as dedicated friends moved about, visiting at every moment possible. There were moments of rapt attention, as courageous speakers spoke of the utter transformation of their lives by the love and compassionate ministry of Good Samaritan Ministries. The Presence of the Spirit was tangible; everyone’s face revealed profound awe of our God.

Samaritan’s hearts full

The dinner was God breathed; He brought Mark, who had not even planned to come, but at the last day or so, finally chose to attend. It was as if God was wooing him, for almost at the last moment, one of the speakers was unable to attend and Mark was asked to share his story. He then knew why he needed to be there – and his heart was so willing. At one table, two Vietnam Veterans laughed at the power of God putting them both at the same table; their fun and friendship lifted up honor to the grace of God. At the same table, one lady who had been invited at the very last moment, happened to be the only one at the table whose meal was vegetarian (she had not even given her preference!). One other young lady experienced a bit of a mix-up with her request of vegetarian meal. The one who had pasta simply offered to trade meals and ate chicken and the gal was able to have a vegetarian meal. Rather than a mix-up turned into a problem, God simply brought another with a willing heart to trade. Everyone at the table knew God had brought just the right ones to that table!

The most intense experience was the underlying reason we were gathered together. This ministry began with the question, “Who will go for me?” and Bettie Mitchell’s daring launch into saying a definitive “Yes!” to all God asked her to do and to follow His directing voice of how to do it. It is now international in scope. The reason for that success is everyone in that room and in every GSM office has a heart and life willing to give with nothing in return, willing to sacrifice comfort, ease, and means, in order to be a life-changing blessing to everyone who comes in need. This is a ministry inspired and maintained by our Holy God and He is glorified in it.

The fundraising banquet is how Good Samaritan Ministries seeks to fund the following year. This year we were warmed by the many generous Samaritans. Though we did not reach our fundraising goal, the spirit of God rested in the room and heart’s were full.

All Samaritans are asked to consider the fall banquet as a place to invite new people to come and learn about Good Samaritan Ministries. Next year you can partner with us by hosting a table and inviting your friends.
