GSM Counselor Certification Program

Course Overview
In the parable of the Good Samaritan from the scriptures (Luke 10), a man in desperate circumstances is found, given comfort and care and carried to a healing space. At the end of the story, Jesus admonishes His followers to “go and do likewise”.
Good Samaritan Ministries around the world is known for its unique style of spirit led teaching and training, based in the study of Jesus as a teacher, counselor, and mentor. Out of that study we have developed a 3-year training and intern program, that is designed to empower people to discover and develop their potential through the power of the Holy Spirit.
GSM training uses experiential teaching that involves role play and the practice of listening and questioning skills in a safe and confidential setting.

Level l Counselor Training is designed to develop the fundamental concepts, and skills of counseling and personal ministry. The first year of Counselor Training is open to all who are seeking to learn how to minister to individuals and groups.
Within this first year, students are introduced to the work of Jesus Christ as the counselor. We will learn the ways Jesus demonstrated these concepts in His interactions with people, as well as learning what it means to be a “Samaritan”, or one who is willing to “pay the price” by giving of their own time, skills, and resources to help others in need.

Healing Miracles Training

1st Monday’s (dates adjusted for holidays): 2023 Dates – September 11, October 2, November 6 & December 4 – 6:00-8:30pm PST (Offered in person, and over Zoom)
The Healing Miracles Study is a unique look into the humanity of Jesus and how He related to people as He walked the earth. This experiential study was developed in the early years of GSM to help students learn the dynamics of counseling by studying the Master Counselor. Students are asked to choose one person or character in the scripture being studied and identify with their experience. The instructor leads in reading through the scripture, sharing insight and then leading the class through acting out the scenario described.
Each healing miracle also has an in-depth written study that the student completes outside of class time. The written study asks questions that evoke a deeper understanding of the lives of Biblical characters, and how Jesus interacted with them to bring about healing and spiritual growth. The study helps students look at diagnosis and treatment from the perspective of Jesus as The Counselor. The Healing Miracles training is offered as part of our Certified Counselor Training (CCT), as well as a stand-alone class that is open to the public. Advance registration is helpful, but not necessary. Drop-in’s are welcome, and donations of any size are greatly appreciated.
The Healing Miracles Class is offered once a month as a requirement of the Level I Counselor Training program, but is also open to the general public.
